BBTI Forums · Community Charter & Terms of Use
I. The Spirit of This Place
BBTI Forums exists for genuine conversation. We believe robust, sometimes uncomfortable disagreement is the engine of understanding. You are welcome to argue strongly, take unpopular positions, and challenge orthodoxy — on any topic, in any of our ten realms.
II. Free Expression
You may post views that others find disagreeable, offensive, or wrong. That is the cost of an open forum and we accept it gladly. You do not need permission to hold an opinion, and dissenting views are not "harm" by virtue of being dissenting.
III. What is Not Permitted
Freedom of speech is not freedom from consequence, and a small set of behaviors corrode the forum for everyone. These are not allowed:
- Hate speech — content that dehumanizes or calls for harm against people based on race, ethnicity, religion, nationality, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, or disability.
- Targeted harassment — sustained personal attacks, doxxing, stalking, or coordinated pile-ons against specific users.
- Incitement to violence — credible threats or calls for real-world harm against specific people or groups.
- Illegal content — child sexual abuse material, terrorist recruitment, malware, or content that violates Canadian law.
- Spam and manipulation — automated posting, vote brigading, sockpuppet accounts, or commercial spam.
IV. Moderation
Moderators (royal blue crown) may remove content that violates these rules and issue temporary bans of up to ninety days. Administrators (gold crown) may issue permanent bans and delete accounts. Users may report posts, replies, and direct message conversations for staff review. Every staff action is logged. Appeals can be sent by direct message to any administrator.
V. Your Account
You are responsible for your account and for the content you post. Choose a unique username, keep your password private, and do not impersonate others. You may update your profile and password at any time from Settings. All logins and sensitive profile changes require email-based two-step verification.
VI. Data Retention & Automatic Cleanup
BBTI Forums operates an automatic rolling-retention system to keep the platform fast, lightweight, and sustainable. Content is not stored indefinitely. The following limits are enforced automatically:
- Forum posts: Each subcategory retains the most recent 1,000 posts. When a new post pushes the count beyond this limit, the oldest post is permanently removed — along with all of its replies, likes, favourites, and reports. This removal is irreversible.
- Direct messages: Each conversation (1-on-1 or group) retains the most recent 500 messages. When a new message exceeds this limit, the oldest message is permanently removed. This applies equally to all participants.
- Profile pictures: Only your most recent avatar is retained. Uploading a new one overwrites the previous.
- Account deletion: Permanent and irreversible. All posts, replies, messages, likes, and associated data are removed.
There is no guarantee that any content — posts, replies, messages, or uploaded media — will be preserved indefinitely. If you need to keep a copy of something you've written, save it locally. BBTI Forums is a live discussion platform, not an archival service.
VII. Privacy
We store your username, email, password (hashed with bcrypt), profile picture, and the content you create. We do not sell your data. We do not run third-party advertising.
VIII. Limitation of Liability
BBTI Forums is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind. Blake Burns Technologies Inc. is not liable for any loss of data, interruption of service, or damages arising from the use of this platform. Content posted by users represents the views of those users alone, not of Blake Burns Technologies Inc.
IX. Changes
These terms may be revised at any time. Material changes will be announced via a system notification. Continued use of the forum after changes constitutes acceptance.
BBTI Forums is operated by Blake Burns Technologies Inc., a federally incorporated Canadian company. Questions? Contact us at blakeburnstechnologiesinc.com.
